Clarke Buehling and Gaslight Quartet

The esteemed banjo player Clarke Buehling will be giving a concert at Techline on October 24th, 7 - 8:30 pm. Please join us for a rendition of Classic Banjo, Minstrel Banjo, and Old Songs. You will also hear a few cuts from the new CD that will be available at the concert. "Music You Should Hear". A rousing rendition of Ragtime and Classic Banjo tunes recorded at Tolono Earth Analog Studio by James Treichler of WAVEUPONWAVE studio. The Gaslight Quartet is Clarke Buehling, Billy Mathews, Paul, and Christine Breen. Techline is located at 307 SouthLocust Street in Champaign, IL. Suggested donation of $20.00.

We love Old Time Music and play in a band when possible. Our Fiddler is an Arkansas Champion and received the first J. Mulkey Kent Award given for authentic ozark fiddle playing. His name is...ready... Fiddlin Banjo Billy Mathews! Now that is quite a title. Billy was one of the few American Banjo makers back in the late 1970's and 1980's, he also plays the banjo in the old style. He began fiddling when a neighbor told him he could have a fiddle, if he learned to play a tune. So Billy made up a tune and came back to his neighbors, played the tune and was awarded his first fiddle. That was some 40 plus years ago. Today Billy mostly plays the fiddle and my husband plays guitar and I get to be Banjo Billy's Banjo player! We have a really great time hope you can catch a show sometime.
